GSA Season Opener Crowns Seven Champions Across a Full Weekend of Hoops

EKO Staff··

The GSA Season Opener brought together 41 teams across 7 divisions for 68 games, and by the end of the weekend every bracket had a banner to hang.

In 10th Grade Boys, GSA ALLSTARS took the title over GSA MAFIA, with Tanner Richards earning division MVP. The 3rd Grade Boys crown went to the GULF COAST MAMBAS, who got past HOOP NATION FAMILY, and Wes Sw was named MVP.

The 5th Grade Boys final saw BSA edge HOOP NATION FAMILY 29-25, with Banda Banda taking MVP honors. In 6th Grade Boys, MILES SELECT beat TAG 52-47, and EJ Ej was the division's top performer.

SWISS HOUSE claimed the 7th Grade Boys championship with a 32-25 win over TAG - DRAKE, where Melo Melo was named MVP. The 8th Grade Boys title belonged to GREATNESS ELITE, who topped JPRINCE ALLSTARS 35-32, with Christian Hobbs earning MVP. And in 9th Grade Boys, TEAM HYPE were the champions over 9-boys-press-up, with Torrey Torrey taking MVP.

A few standout moments rose above the rest. The closest championship of the weekend came in 9th Grade Boys, a fitting nod to a division that also produced the highest-scoring game of the event, a 64-59 result. On the individual side, Devin Paters turned in the biggest single-game effort, pouring in 30 points in 10th Grade Boys.

From the youngest brackets to the oldest, the weekend offered a little of everything, tight finishes, high-scoring shootouts, and standout scoring nights. Seven divisions, seven new champions, and plenty of basketball to remember.

Thanks to all the players, coaches, families, and officials who made the GSA Season Opener such a great weekend of hoops. We'll see you at the next tip-off.
