Mac Howard's Run Made the Case Even as the Title Slipped Away

EKO Staff··

Mac Howard took MVP honors with the kind of tournament that does the arguing for him. Over 3 games he averaged 17.0 points, piled up 51 in all, and connected on 11 threes, the second-best scoring output in the field. He led his team in scoring throughout, and his team reached the final.

The signature night came against Chattanooga Elite. Howard poured in 23 points and buried 5 threes, a performance that earned him Player of the Game. From beyond the arc he carried the offense, and that effort stood as the high-water mark of his run.

He stayed steady from there. Against The Show he added 17 points with 3 threes, matching the daily average that anchored the rest of his line. In the meeting with Iron City Hoops Edmonds he chipped in 11 points, again finding 3 from distance. The threes were a constant, the through line of every box score that bore his name.

The case for Howard rests on the math. He finished second in the field for scoring, the top option on his own roster, and his 11 threes across three games made the perimeter his territory. One Player-of-the-Game nod from the bracket put a coach's stamp on the run. An MVP line built on a tournament-high average, a heavy three-point load, and that recognition needs little dressing up.

The finish did not match the individual production. Howard and the Shannon Hawks reached the final but did not claim the title. That leaves his run as a self-contained argument, the best individual tournament regardless of where the team landed. The trophy went elsewhere. The numbers stayed with him.
