Wiggins Tops the Field, Earns Three POG Nods Across Redline's Run to the Final

EKO Staff··

Andrew Wiggins finished as the tournament's leading scorer, and the case for him as MVP starts there. He posted 65 points over 4 games, an average of 16.2, and collected Player of the Game honors in 3 of those outings while leading Redline - Savannah to the final.

The run frame was simple: a field-best scoring average, 8 threes, and a steady hand at the top of his team's offense. Wiggins led his team in scoring throughout.

The signature stretch came against TDBA Gold, an opponent he faced twice. In the first meeting he scored 20 points with 3 threes and took Player of the Game. In the second he answered with 19 points and another POG, this time with a single three. Against ATL Mustangs 14U 2030 he added 17 points, again with 3 threes, and again was named Player of the Game. The fourth game rounded out a line that never dipped far from his average.

The why-them paragraph writes itself in the numbers. Wiggins ranked first in the field in scoring. He led his own team. He drew coach recognition in three of four games. The 65 total points and the 8 threes give the average its weight, an MVP run built on a tournament-high scoring mark and three POG honors.

Redline - Savannah reached the final but did not win the title. That places this where it belongs: the best individual tournament of the bracket regardless of the team's finish. The trophy went elsewhere, but the leading scorer, the most decorated by the coaches, and his team's primary option were one and the same player. The MVP nod settled what the box scores already showed.
