Congratulations to the Top of Texas Stars, who are tournament champions after a 21-15 win in the final. It is a title earned the honest way.
The Stars finished the event with a 3-1 record, scoring 15 points per game while holding their opponents to 10. That defensive number tells you a lot about this group. Most nights came down to grinding it out and trusting one another, and the margins stayed close enough that every possession mattered.
Across the four games, the scoring came from all over the roster. Goldie Sloan and Sloan Kile each chipped in 8 points over the run, steady contributions that helped carry the load when it counted. Paislee Najera added 7 points across the event, another reliable piece in a balanced attack.
The supporting cast filled in around them. Abby Waterbury, Cye Carson, and Isabella Tarango each scored 2 points during the tournament, the kind of contributions that add up when a team shares the work.
This is who the Stars are: a group that leans on each other and lets the scoring come from many hands. The defense set the tone, and the depth gave them something extra every time they took the floor.
Leading the way was Mackenzie Mendez, who poured in 32 points across the four games and was named Tournament MVP. She also earned All-Tournament honors. After watching her teammates do the little things all week, the recognition is a fitting reward for the player at the center of it all.
Every member of this team mattered. Adalyn Tarango appeared in all four games, and Londyn Campbell suited up for all four as well. Showing up, game after game, is part of what makes a championship team whole.
Nine players, one title. The Top of Texas Stars can be proud of how they did it, together.
